How to Use Colloidal Silver in a Hot Tub or Spa

I get a lot of questions from spa and hot tub owners asking if colloidal silver can be used as a disinfectant, in place of harsh and potentially toxic chemicals such as chlorine and bromine.

The answer is:  Yes, absolutely!  Here’s what I’ve learned from my own personal experience, and what others say, as well…

Hi, Steve Barwick here, for The Silver Edge

In my 500 gallon hot tub, I use one quart per week of 10 ppm micro-particle colloidal silver to completely eliminate the use of harsh chemicals such as chlorine and bromine.

In fact, since years ago when I started adding one quart of 10 ppm colloidal silver per week to my hot tub water, I haven’t since had to use chlorine, bromine or any other chemical.  And I only change out the water in the tub once a year.

A reader recently wrote on this same subject, and her experience reflects my own:

"We have a hot tub. The water is treated with chemicals to keep it clean and sanitary. I always hated the smell and wondered what those chemicals were doing to my body.

And if I had forgotten to treat my hot tub for a week or so it would start turning green and smell bad. Then I would have to ‘shock’ the tub with extra chemicals.

So I thought, if silver water kills bad bacteria then why not try it in the hot tub. A year ago, we drained the tub, refilled it and poured in a quart of silver water.

I doubted that it would work due to the fact that the tub is full of water from the hose with plenty of minerals in it.

I am amazed! My hot tub has remained ph balanced and clear as can be for the past year. No green, no smell and best of all no chemicals.

And my husband and I have noticed that we have not had any skin irritations.

We use just one quart of 10 ppm colloidal silver a week, which is much cheaper than those chemicals because we make our own silver water with your Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator for about 36 cents a quart!"

Getting Started With Colloidal Silver

It’s true.  For about 36 cents a week (the cost to make a quart of colloidal silver with a high-quality colloidal silver generator), you can completely replace your chlorine, bromine and other harsh chemicals with safe, natural mineral silver that’s widely known for its powerful skin-soothing and healing benefits.

Most people who make the switch from using harsh chemicals to colloidal silver in their hot tub or spa tell me they first completely empty their tub, scrub it thoroughly, rinse it, and refill it with fresh, clean water.

Then they start out with two quarts of 10 ppm colloidal silver to "shock" the water.

After the first week, they reduce the amount to a single quart per week, and watch to see if the water remains fresh and crystal clear while using the tub as per usual.

If the water in the hot tub or spa remains sparkling fresh and clear, and if there’s no slime on the inside of the tub, they stick with one quart of colloidal silver per week, from that point forward.

But if the water does not remain fresh and clear, they gradually increase their weekly colloidal silver hot tub infusion until they find the amount that keeps the tub water crystal clear, and with no slime on the inside of the tub.

Based on my own experience and that of others I’ve communicated with, for most hot tubs and spas adding only one quart of 10 ppm colloidal silver per week does the trick!

However, there are a number of variables that can determine whether or not you might have to add extra colloidal silver from time-to-time.  For example, here are four important variables:

·      How much water the tub holds…

·      How often the tub is used…

·      Whether or not people are allowed into the tub with suntan lotion or skin cream on…

·      How much sun exposure the water in your hot tub or spa gets

The more water your tub holds, the more colloidal silver has to be used each week.  And if the tub is being used very frequently, it might require additional infusions of colloidal silver from time-to-time, as well.

Also, if people use the tub with suntan lotion or skin cream on, some of the lotion will inevitably wash off into the water.  When that happens, some of the tiny, healing silver particles will bond with the lotion in the water, forming larger silver particle agglomerates that will be quickly removed from the water by the hot tub filters.

In such a case, colloidal silver would have to be added to the tub water more frequently than just once per week in order to maintain water freshness and disinfection.

Finally, if the hot tub water is regularly exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time (i.e., hours at a time), the light will gradually neutralize some of the silver particles, and larger weekly infusions of colloidal silver might be needed in such a case.

But in general, a single quart of 10 ppm colloidal silver per week does the trick in most hot tubs and spas.  And you can always add more if needed.

Give It a Try!

So if you own a hot tub or spa, and you’re sick and tired of the way the harsh disinfectant chemicals make you feel, you might consider giving colloidal silver a try in the hot tub water, instead.

·      Of course, it’s best if you make your own colloidal silver with a high-quality Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from The Silver Edge, which allows you to make quart after quart for less than 36 cents per quart.

·      You can even make large, gallon-sized batches, if you want (see video How to Make Big Batches of Colloidal Silver), so you’ll always have plenty of colloidal silver available for your hot tub or spa, as well as your household uses and your personal healing uses.

After you’ve been using colloidal silver in your hot tub or spa water for a few weeks, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how soothing to your skin the water becomes, as well as how quickly stubborn skin irritations tend to disappear!

And more importantly, you’ll be surprised at how sparkling fresh and clear the colloidal silver will keep your tub water as long as regular maintenance (i.e., filters cleaned, fresh colloidal silver added each week) is performed.

In Russia, people drive hundreds of miles to soak and swim in Sweet Lake, which has been called Russia’s healing “colloidal silver lake” thanks to the high silver content of the water.

They go there because the high silver content of the water helps boost immunity and aid in the healing of allergies, skin conditions, and more.

But if you have a hot tub, you can make your own healing “colloidal silver lake” at home.  There’s no need to go to Russia. Just add colloidal silver, soak and enjoy.  It’s really that simple!

Meanwhile, I’ll be back next week with another great article on colloidal silver….

Yours for the safe, sane and responsible use of colloidal silver,
