Biogenic Silver Nanoparticles From Abutilon Indicum: Their Antioxidant, Antibacterial And Cytotoxic Effects In Vitro

In this clinical study, published in the journal Colloids and Surfaces B Biointerfaces in April 2015, researchers used silver nanoparticles synthesized with Abutilon indicum leaf extract and evaluated their biological effects on human colon cancer cells (COLO 205).

They found that concentrations of only 3 and 4 ppm silver nanoparticles resulted in DNA fragmentation and eventual apoptosis (i.e., cellular self-destruction) to half the colon cancer cells after only 24 hours and 48 hours respectively.
