Silver Kill the Fungus that Causes Dandruff: 2 New Studies
Got dandruff? Well, it’s likely you won’t anymore if you start working a little bit of colloidal silver into your scalp each day.
According to the latest clinical research silver works wonders against the fungal pathogen that causes dandruff – even working better than prescription anti-fungal dandruff drugs.
Here’s the straight scoop on the two latest studies demonstrating the anti-dandruff benefits of silver nanoparticles…
Hi, Steve Barwick here, for The Silver Edge…
Last year I wrote an article titled “Colloidal Silver Helps Heal Stubborn Dandruff Problems,” in which I documented through anecdotal reports from readers that colloidal silver is astonishingly effective against dandruff, which is caused by a fungal pathogen infestation of the scalp.
I also documented a number of clinical studies demonstrating silver’s proven anti-fungal prowess. But what I couldn’t find at the time was a clinical study proving silver to be an effective anti-dandruff treatment.
In fact, I stated at the time, “Silver’s powerful antifungal properties have not only been known for decades but have repeatedly been verified by medical science. So frankly, it’s quite astonishing that colloidal silver has never been investigated as a remedy for dandruff.”
But now, with the latest clinical research, all of that’s changed, as you’re about to learn. Not one, but two new clinical studies have demonstrated silver’s powerful anti-dandruff qualities. And you can bet in due time some big drug company will be coming out with a new dandruff shampoo with silver as the active anti-fungal, anti-dandruff ingredient.
The Latest Research:
Silver Stops Dandruff Better Than Drugs
In a relatively new clinical study, titled “Size- and Shape-dependent Clinical and Mycological Efficacy of Silver Nanoparticles on Dandruff,” published in the International Journal of Nanomedicine in June, 2015, researchers from India found that silver nanoparticles of various shapes and sizes were effective against the Malassezia furfur fungus, which causes dandruff.
According to the researchers:
“The present work outlines a detailed analysis of the treatment of scalp infection using silver nanomaterials (Ag NMs), and focuses on biocidal activity owing to manipulation of size, shape, and structure…
…silver nanomaterials demonstrated enhanced biocidal tendencies compared to market available drugs, itracanozole and ketoconazole, showing greater zones of inhibition.”
In other words, the tiny, 20 nm silver nanoparticles worked even better against the dandruff fungus than prescription anti-fungal dandruff drugs such as itracanozole and ketoconazole.
Indeed, the researchers wrote that the silver nanoparticles were “found to be superior to tested drugs.”
The researchers even tested the silver nanoparticles in vivo, using the rat model. They wrote:
“An in vivo model for M. furfur infection was generated by passing fungi subcutaneously in rats’ skin. Again, 20 nm particles showed best normalization of skin after 10 days on regular dosing.”
In other words, the researchers induced an infection with the skin fungi that causes dandruff in the skin of the mice. They then treated the skin of the mice with silver. And the dandruff-causing fungal infection of the skin was cured after only 10 days of silver use. The researchers also found that the use of the silver nanoparticles caused no damage to the skin, whatsoever. They wrote:
“The results of skin irritation test indicate that Ag NPs do not produce any dermatological reaction and were well tolerated by rats showing no drastic visual flakes formation and inflammation.”
Instead, the researchers found that the silver nanoparticle treatment brought about significant tissue repair. They wrote:
“Biochemical analysis performed by checking antioxidant enzymatic activities indicated tissue repair and normalization of enzymes and protein concentration by Ag NPs.”
Finally, the researchers concluded:
“Small-sized spherical Ag NPs can be used as an important cost-effective fungistatic agent in formulations for treating scalp problems, since they can be produced in larger quantities and very small amount is required for the desired effect.”
As I stated earlier, be on the watch for a new anti-fungal shampoo with silver nanoparticles as its active ingredient. It’s only a matter of time before the big over-the-counter medical corporations that produce other dandruff shampoos pick up on this research, if they haven’t already. In fact, the next study (below) indicates they already have…
Another New Silver/Dandruff Study
Another similar recent clinical study is titled “Anti-Malassezia furfur Activity of Natural Surfactant Mediated In-Situ Silver Nanoparticles for a Better Antidandruff Shampoo Formulation,” published in January 2016 in the chemical sciences journal RSC Advances.
In this study, researchers from the National Institute of Technology and the Centre for Converging Technologies in India pointed out that the dandruff-causing fungus Malassezia furfur was becoming resistant to common anti-dandruff drugs and medications. They wrote, “…in many cases dandruff causing fungi, Malassezia furfur develops resistance towards commonly used antidandruff drugs, as a result, it necessary to develop a new class of novel antidandruff shampoo…”
So the researchers tested silver nanoparticles and found a significant anti-fungal effect “in aqueous media against M. furfur.” In other words, they tested the silver in a liquid media similar to shampoo. And they concluded that the silver nanoparticles not only remained stable in the liquid media they used, but protected the liquid media from microbial contamination and showed “potential as an active antidandruff simple shampoo formulation.”
It’s abundantly clear from the study title that developing a “better antidandruff shampoo formulation” is the goal of the researchers. Indeed, whenever you see clinical studies like this being released one behind the other, you can rest assured someone, somewhere, is already working on the development of a new silver-based commercial product.
That’s why I feel confident in predicting there will soon be new anti-dandruff shampoos introduced to the market – whether prescription, or over-the-counter I do not know – but based on silver nanoparticles as the active, fungal-fighting anti-dandruff ingredient.
Should You Wait?
If you’re suffering from dandruff, should you wait for the big medical corporations to bring to market an expensive new commercial anti-dandruff product utilizing silver?
Nope. Not if you’ve got safe, natural colloidal silver on hand. After all, you can simply add a few ounces of 10 ppm colloidal silver to your regular shampoo and shake it up to distribute the silver particles – and voila – you now have an effective silver-based shampoo. (I’ve been doing this for years, and it really works!)
You can also do what thousands of experienced colloidal silver users have done for years, and spray a small amount of colloidal silver directly onto the scalp each day, gently working it into the scalp and then allowing it to air dry.
The result? Like magic, the dandruff generally clears up inside of a week. Here, from my previous article on this topic, are a few of the testimonials from people who have used colloidal silver to bring their dandruff problems to a screeching halt:
“I found out about the silver about a year ago, I am never without it. I used it on my son’s dandruff also, which the Dermatologist gave him an Rx for 65.00 shampoo that did not work. Grrrrrrrrrr…nothing worked except the silver. That and Essential Fatty Acids! Love this stuff and wish more people would be aware of it.”
-- Joanna S.
“You name it, and
we've probably used colloidal silver for it!
My husband even sprays it on his hair in the mornings, for dandruff. And
come to think of it, he hasn't had any dandruff to speak of in four or five
years now! Owning a colloidal silver generator from The Silver Edge has given us
the luxury of being able to use high-quality micro-particle colloidal silver
any time we need it, and we never have to worry about the costs. The machine is
very easy to use, and easy to store. And it is without a doubt the single-best
money-saving appliance in my entire house!"
-- K. Sullivan, NM
“I have got rid of my dandruff with Colloidal Silver. And using it on burns is nothing short of astonishing. The relief is practically instant. I cannot promote it enough. Thx Steve for all your dedication and hard work. It is very much appreciated."
-- Peter A.
Here are some additional testimonials regarding colloidal silver and dandruff, from various online sources:
“I had dandruff as long as I can remember and have used "Head and Shoulders" for at least 25 years. One morning a few weeks ago, I ran out of shampoo and started using my wife's un-medicated kind.
I keep a bottle of colloidal silver on my bathroom counter to take a swig from each morning. It has a spray cap on it so I can use it as deodorant (works great!). I sprayed it on my hair and let it dry. I noticed the next day, my hair was nice and soft. I did it the next day and used the un-medicated shampoo again.
Now, I use it every day and have soft hair and no itchy scalp or dandruff. What a blessing! Try it. It may work for you.”
“I have not used the
colloidal silver a lot yet but I did use it on my daughter’s hair. She has hair
like I did when I was younger it got greasy within one day and the dandruff was
awful. But I used the colloidal silver in her hair and there was no dandruff
and it actually stayed soft and not greasy for at least 3 days after. It’s the
only thing that has kept her hair free of dandruff.”
“I've always had dandruff, and without washing every single day with dandruff shampoo, my scalp would get itchy and flaky, and my hair would get oily. And I'd be extra susceptible to bed head, hat head, and other such embarrassments.
Depending on who you ask, dandruff seems to be fungal or yeast-oriented condition. Colloidal silver is supposed to have anti-fungal properties, right? Turns out, for me at least, it works better than the store-bought shampoo. Less itchy, less flaky, less oily. I'm calling this one Confirmed.”
In short, colloidal silver is a powerful anti-dandruff agent that, for many people, appears to be even more effective than traditional antifungal shampoos and drugs.
And now…finally…it’s even been proven by medical research to work!
Learn to Make Your Own
Colloidal Silver for Pennies…
Colloidal silver can be purchased at just about any local health food store, or through a number of online sources including Amazon.com.
However, it’s quite literally one of the most expensive and heavily marked-up natural supplements in existence.
Health food store owners, for example, often charge as much as $20-$30 for a tiny four-ounce bottle. Yet the cost to manufacture four ounces of colloidal silver is about 12 cents. Yes, I said twelve cents.
O course, people are willing to pay through the nose for colloidal silver, since it’s safe and natural, and works so well against infections and related diseases.
there’s no need to pay such exorbitant prices for colloidal silver, when you
can make your own, quickly and easily, in the comfort and privacy of your own
home, for about 36 cents a quart.
Yes, you can make it yourself for its actual cost, and altogether skip the sky-high mark-ups charged by health food stores!
If you’re interested in learning how to make your own high-quality colloidal silver at home, for about 36 cents a quart, here are some additional short articles you might want to take a look at:
Meanwhile, I’ll be back next week with another great article on colloidal silver….
Yours for the safe, sane and responsible use of colloidal silver,
