Ebola is Back and Here’s What You Need to Know
Ebola is back in the news again.
And a newly reported case, plus several older cases of Ebola, indicate that the Ebola virus can continue to be spread even when a victim of the disease has been “cured” or otherwise displays no symptoms.
Many viruses live for decades in our bodies without showing any signs or symptoms whatsoever.
But later, when immunity is lowered due to stress, injury, shock, or even just aging, these viruses can re-activate in response to the reduced immunity, and begin to replicate, causing weakness, fatigue, and even serious chronic degenerative disease.
Is the Ebola virus any different? Can a person have Ebola without displaying any symptoms? And if so, can that same asymptomatic person spread the Ebola virus to others?
Finally, can colloidal silver help, and if so, how? Here’s what we know so far…
Hi, Steve Barwick here, for The Silver Edge…
Yes, that old bogey-man Ebola is back in the news again.
And like last time, it’s being called “one of the largest and deadliest outbreaks in history.”
According to the news article at the above link, the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared it an “international health emergency,” claiming that this year alone more than 1,200 people have already died in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
Of course, the usual propagandistic concerns about the virus being transmitted to people in western countries via foreign travelers are gradually, albeit with far less fanfare than the 2014 outbreak, being mentioned in the news.
So I thought it might do some good to review some of the information I had to withhold in 2014 when the Ebola hysteria was at its heights…and when the nightly news was telling us it’s “it’s not a matter of if, but when” in regards to the spread of the disease to America and other western nations…and when the FDA began cracking down on natural health enthusiasts who were recommending colloidal silver for the disease.
Can You Have Ebola Without Having Symptoms?
According to news reports back in 2014, a Liberian man who was supposedly “cured” of Ebola still tested positive for it, when his semen was tested.
In other words, he shows no overt symptoms of the disease. But the virus can still be found in his bodily fluids. And he was re-quarantined because of this, so he couldn’t spread the disease to others.
So should it come as a surprise that people “cured” of Ebola might still have the virus living inside them, and might still be able to spread it through semen, saliva, or other bodily fluids?
Could this be why, every few years, new Ebola outbreaks are reported throughout West Africa, and now the Congo?
Here’s another case, reported on Healio.com’s Infectious Disease News page, in an article titled “Possible Sexual Transmission of Ebola Reported Months After Illness.”
In this particular case, according to Healio, “Unprotected sex between a man discharged from an Ebola treatment unit 5 months earlier and a Liberian woman appears to have resulted in transmission of the virus, according to a case study published in MMWR.”
The article further states:
“Based on information gathered in this investigation, CDC now recommends that contact with semen from male Ebola survivors be avoided until more information regarding the duration and infectiousness of viral shedding in body fluids in known,” the investigators wrote. “If male survivors have sex, a condom should be used correctly and consistently every time.”
The medical bureaucrats tell us that the presence of the Ebola virus still detected in the bodily fluids of “cured” individuals is “only temporary.” According to medical authorities:
“Presence of virus in his semen samples may have the possibility of transmitting the disease through sexual route up to 90 days from time of clinical cure…During convalescence from Ebola virus disease, patients may continue to shed the virus in body fluids for a ‘variable period’”.
But in private, many so-called medical “experts” still argue over how long the virus can be detected in a “cured” individual. It could be 90 days. It could be longer. And as we’ll see later in this article, a person can even have an active Ebola infection, replete with symptoms, and still test “negative” for Ebola.
So in truth, the medical authorities are only winging it; they really don’t know for sure what’s going on, or how long this “variable period” might actually last in which Ebola is still active in the body, even though a person is said to have been “cured” of the infection.
So I have to ask again, could this be why, every few years, new Ebola outbreaks are reported throughout West Africa, and now the Congo?
The Latest Case: Could the Infection Be Permanent?
In July 2018 the medical journal The Lancet reported on a case in which a woman who had been “cured” of Ebola a full year earlier ended up infecting her husband, her 15-year old son and her eight year old son who had been caring for her during her pregnancy.
The woman, according to a WRAL.com news article, didn’t even have the virus in her blood. Nor did the baby she had been pregnant with. But she still had antibodies against the virus circulating in her bloodstream.
So doctors guess that since the mother had antibodies against the virus, the baby must have “absorbed protective antibodies through breast-feeding” and therefore did not get the disease.
Doctors also guess that because “pregnancy lowers mothers’ immune systems to protect fetuses from rejection” the pregnancy itself “had probably unleashed a hidden reservoir of “dormant virus” within the woman; tests did not establish where that reservoir might be.”
This raises the question, could the Ebola virus be permanent in people who have had the disease and had supposedly been “cured”? In other viral diseases, such as AIDS, the presence of the virus is indeed permanent. So what makes Ebola different?
Even ever-present viruses like Epstein-Barr and Cytomegalovirus are known to stay with infected persons for life, re-emerging periodically throughout life to wreak havoc in their bodies when stress, trauma, shock, loss, illness or some other factor lowers immunity.
And if supposedly “cured” individuals can still carry the Ebola virus, can people who have been exposed to the virus, but didn’t get sick because of their superb immune system function, still carry the virus and pass it along to others?
In other words, just as Typhoid Mary carried the deadly typhoid disease pathogen and unwittingly passed it along to others for years without ever getting sick herself, can some people be carriers of the Ebola virus, but pass it along to others while remaining symptomless themselves?
The medical authorities say “no.” But are they right? Here are some facts about viruses you probably haven’t yet been told:
How Viruses Really Work
Many viruses really can’t be eradicated from the human body; they can only be suppressed and controlled, as is the case, for example, with HIV, i.e., the AIDS virus.
The antiviral medications given to AIDS patients never “cure” the body of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. These medications merely suppress its activity, keeping viral counts low enough so the more serious symptoms of the disease don’t develop.
So a person infected with the AIDS virus can still spread that virus to others through bodily fluids, even if he or she is completely asymptomatic, meaning no overt symptoms of AIDS thanks to the antiviral drugs being taken.
But once the virus is spread to another individual, symptoms in the new host can be severe – including death – if the person’s immune system is not strong enough to adequately suppress the spread of the virus, and if antiviral drugs are not administered quickly enough.
This is pretty much true, across the board.
As I mentioned earlier, even the ubiquitous Epstein-Barr virus, and the equally ubiquitous Cytomegalovirus, both of which live benignly in a large percentage of humans, are merely being kept “in check” by the human immune system so they don’t replicate enough to cause disease.
But in people with lowered immunity, these very same viruses can “come out to play,” so to speak, triggering chronic degenerative diseases such as Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS and others, as numerous cutting edge researchers have demonstrated.
Even the common chicken pox virus, which we all experience in childhood, is never truly eradicated from our bodies. Though for all intents and purposes we appear to be “cured” of the disease, the virus is merely suppressed by our immune system and we remain generally symptom-free for decades.
But as we grow older and our immune system weakens, the same virus often re-awakens with a vengeance in the form of a very painful disease called Shingles. (See “Colloidal Silver and Shingles,” for more information.)
All of this implies that even asymptomatic people — i.e., people who have either been “cured” of Ebola, or even people who have been exposed to the Ebola virus, and who carry it but never got sick from it because they had superb immune system function — could still theoretically spread it to others through semen, saliva (kissing, coughing, etc.) or other bodily fluids.
So I ask once more: Could this be why, every few years, new Ebola outbreaks are reported throughout West Africa, and now the Congo?
Can You Have Ebola But Test Negative for It?
Perhaps worse yet, you can actually have Ebola, and test negative for it.
Indeed, according to the Washington Post, a surgeon from Sierra Leone named Martin Salia tested negative for Ebola, after experiencing initial symptoms of the disease.
Salia then celebrated with family and friends. But eventually, he died of the disease (at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha). And his colleagues and family members were quarantined.
According to online news accounts, “Physicians who looked after him in the Sierra Leonean capital seemed not to be aware that early Ebola testing — taken within the first three days of showing signs and symptoms of the illness — is not always conclusive.”
News reports on the incident go on to say, “In a number of cases, negative Ebola tests at that early stage mean nothing, because ‘there aren’t enough copies of the virus in the blood for the test to pick up,’ this, according to Ermias Belay, head of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Ebola response team in the beleaguered country.
What this means is that a person can have a brewing Ebola infection – showing symptoms of fatigue, lethargy and low-grade fever – yet still test negative for Ebola and be sent back out into the population to infect others.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line is this: While we’ve been told that people who have been “cured” of Ebola develop “permanent immunity” to it, what we’re not being told is that they might still be able to pass the virus along to others through bodily fluids for an unknown period of time.
The medical authorities say this is true for up to 90 days after a “cure” has been affected. But considering the fact that many other viruses remain in a person’s system for life, even though they’re symptom-free, how do we know this is not true for the Ebola virus, as well?
This is certainly true for many other viruses. Scientists admit, for example, that people with “latent viral infections” (i.e., existing, but not active infections) are “more likely than others” to develop diseases like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) later in life. In other words, the viruses are still there, wreaking slow-motion havoc on the body rather than presenting with normal viral symptoms.
So what makes the Ebola virus any different? The medical authorities don’t really have an authoritative answer to that question.
Like many other viruses, Ebola might have a dormant or “hibernation” stage, particularly when a person’s immunity is high. But when immunity falters, such as during a time of unusual stress, or injury, or just as the result of something as innocuous as aging, it might be able to activate and begin multiplying itself, causing illness and disease.
And finally, it’s important to note that a person can have a brewing Ebola infection and still test negative for it, giving false hope to the individual and his family, and worsening the possibility of the spread of the disease to others.
Merck’s New Ebola Vaccine
As I warned in 2014, medical authorities are now touting the idea that, as a means of avoiding the virus, we should all be inoculated with Merck’s new Ebola vaccine, which was tested in the most recent Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and which, according to news sources, needs to be given every two years for “maximum protection.”
This could be why the scare story about the woman infecting her husband and children a year after she was allegedly “cured” of her Ebola infection is now being circulated in the news media.
What it all boils down to is this:
First and foremost, keeping your immune system operating at peak levels is absolutely vital in this Age of Strange Diseases in which we now live. Even if exposed to a serious virus, making sure it is unable to spread inside the body after exposure is paramount, and the only way to help do that is to keep your immunity high.
Secondly, avoiding intimate contact with people who have had serious viral diseases like Ebola (or who have been exposed to Ebola virus, but are currently symptom free) may also be quite important, considering the nature of viruses to go “dormant” or “hibernate” in the human body, while still being detectable in bodily fluids such as semen.
Colloidal Silver?
So how does all of this information relate to colloidal silver usage?
- Colloidal silver is just one natural substance that can help dramatically boost immunity and thereby help protect against coming down with full-blown viral infections. (See “Does Colloidal Silver Boost Immunity?” for more information.)
- What’s more, if the 2009 test tube study titled “Silver Nanoparticle Neutralization of Hemorrhagic Fever Viruses” (conducted by the Defense Threat Reduction
Agency, of the U.S. Department of Defense) is any indication, colloidal silver might also help stop the Ebola virus from replicating in human cells exposed to it. No further clinical studies have been conducted to verify this possibility, however. But the DOD study was quite definitive. Though it was only a test tube study and not a real-life human study, it demonstrated that human cells treated with nanosilver prevented cellular uptake of the virus, and thus prevented infection.
- And if the news reports coming out of West Africa are right, colloidal silver also “cures” Ebola. (See “Colloidal Silver Working Against Ebola in West Africa,” for more information.) Though again, whether or not this is a true “cure,” or merely a powerful suppression of the virus, remains to be answered.
Important Addendum:
Where to Find Colloidal Silver
If you’re brand new to colloidal silver usage and are wondering where to buy it, it’s important to know that you can find it in just about any well-stocked health food store in America. It’s also available on Amazon and numerous other websites.
But it can be extremely expensive. In fact, because colloidal silver works so well against numerous forms of infection and disease, it has the highest price mark-up of any nutritional supplement in existence.
The amount of actual silver in a four-ounce bottle of colloidal silver is about five to 12 cents worth. (Yes, I said five to twelve cents.)
Yet because that small amount of silver is all it takes to decimate so many different kinds of infections, the manufacturers mark it up about 16,000%, charging a whopping $20 or $30 per bottle.
What’s more, manufacturers promoting the latest faddish colloidal silver product often charge far more per bottle – sometimes $35 to $50 for a tiny four-ounce bottle.
And people are more than willing to pay through the nose for these commercial colloidal silver products at health food stores because colloidal silver does indeed heal infections and prevent the spread of germs and disease faster and better than any other natural supplement on the planet!
So, commercially speaking, the retail price of colloidal silver at health food stores reflects its value to the consumer far more so than its true cost to produce. But here’s the good news:

Customer Testimonials
Here’s what one customer recently wrote to tell us:
“Owning a Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from The Silver Edge has given us the luxury of being able to use high-quality colloidal silver any time we need it. And we never have to worry about the costs because it only costs a few pennies per quart to make! It is without a doubt the single-best money-saving appliance in my entire house!
Best of all, the machine is very easy to use, and easy to store. I was concerned about ease-of-use, but my fears were unfounded. After I got mine and used it, I immediately bought one and sent it to my 83 year old mom, and she uses it regularly as well.
Now that I have a Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator, I can use colloidal silver for everything — disinfecting the kitchen sinks, countertops, and the cutting board… spraying the toilet bowls, and the bathroom countertops and sinks… spraying it on my toothbrush to prevent bacterial growth…rinsing my mouth with it to prevent cavities and gum disease…you name it.
I even put it in the laundry rinse cycle when I do my linens, towels and kitchen rags, so I don’t have to wash them as frequently. It really keeps them fresh, and there’s never any mold or mildew anywhere in our house.
I also put some in the cat’s water bowl each day, and the dog’s too. We use it in the bathtub for skin problems. And of course we drink it when our tummies are queasy, or when we feel a cold or flu coming on. We also gargle with it in order to get rid of sore throats, and sniff it up our noses to get rid of sinus problems.
My husband even sprays it on his hair in the mornings, and has completely eliminated his lifelong dandruff problem. And he sprays a little bit in his eyes from time to time, and now has no more recurrent problems with sties.”
— K. Sullivan, NM
And here’s what another happy customer wrote to say about the tremendous savings she’s achieved by no longer having to purchase her colloidal silver through health food stores:
“We make a quart of colloidal silver at least once a week with the Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from the Silver Edge. I finally sat down and figured out how much this machine has been saving us. By making our own colloidal silver we’ve saved $11,503.20 this year alone, compared to the cost of colloidal silver at our local health food store.
The cost for colloidal silver at our local health food store is $30 for a tiny four-ounce bottle. But with my Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator, I can make eight times that amount (i.e., a full quart) for about 35 cents total cost.
If I were to purchase a quart of colloidal silver at the health food store, which would be eight of those tiny, four-ounce bottles, the cost would be a whopping $240 (i.e., 8 x $30 = $240) compared to the 35 cents I now spend to make a full quart!
Here’s the breakdown of our costs to make a full quart of colloidal silver with our Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator: It costs us about a dollar for a gallon of steam-distilled water at Walmart. So a quart of the steam-distilled water costs about 25 cents. And I estimate we use maybe a nickel’s worth of electricity and maybe another nickel’s worth of silver from the silver rods for every one-quart batch of colloidal silver we make. So that’s 35 cents a quart, all told, for each quart of micro-particle colloidal silver we make!
And frankly, considering how long the .999 fine silver rods have lasted (over a year and a half, so far, for the most recent set), I think it’s probably even cheaper than that. But it’s the lifetime savings we’ve experienced that’s just mind-boggling to me.
For example, we’ve had our Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver unit for nearly five years now. And as I mentioned we make one quart per week, and we spend about 35 cents a week on making colloidal silver.
This means we save about $239.65 a week by not having to purchase a quart’s worth of colloidal silver at our local health food store. So do the math: In just one month, the savings is $958.60…in one year, the savings is $11,503.20…and in five years we’ve saved approximately $57,516.00!
When you put pencil to paper and figure it out, it definitely takes you by surprise. You just think ‘No way. I must have multiplied that wrong.’
But it’s true. The savings is legitimately well over $11,000 a year over health food store prices for colloidal silver, if you make and use a quart of colloidal silver a week like we do! And we reap that incredible savings from the very reasonable $250 investment we made in purchasing our Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator.
In their advertising literature, The Silver Edge says the unit completely pays for itself after your first couple of one-quart batches. But really, that’s quite an understatement when you realize the true extent of your savings!
Of course, once you start making your own colloidal silver with a Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from The Silver Edge, you don’t really think about how much you’re saving compared to health food store prices, because it just becomes a normal part of your everyday life. But the savings is nevertheless astonishing when you reflect on it.
What’s especially nice is being able to produce a significantly higher-quality colloidal silver than what’s generally available to the public through health food stores, especially at such a tiny, tiny fraction of the cost.”
— Marie Wilkey, SC
