Add Colloidal Silver to Your Daily Dental Routine – Here’s Why (and How!)
Colloidal silver is considered by many users to be one of the simplest and most effective all-natural remedies in existence for improving dental health by keeping gum disease and plaque in check, healing infected teeth and gums, keeping root canals at bay, and even in one report, remineralizing tooth enamel.
Many people have found so much relief and healing from using colloidal silver orally, they even include it in their daily dental hygiene routine.
So why is colloidal silver so effective for dental health and how can you utilize it daily to ensure healthy teeth and gums? Here’s what you need to know….
Colloidal Silver Fights Infection- and Plaque-Causing Bacteria
Are you aware that colloidal silver is extremely effective against periodontal disease (i.e., gum disease)?
It is. In fact, there’s even a patent for the use of a new type of silver-based product that apparently destroys bacterial plaque on teeth and bacterial pockets under the gum line. Here’s a quote directly from the patent [emphasis ours]:
“Periodontal disease can be treated by the administration of metal ions, preferably silver ions, to the site where the microorganisms that cause this disease reside. Administration can be to periodontal pockets or adjacent to exposed tooth roots or alveolar bone during periodontal surgical procedures.
…. The metal ions are particularly microbiocidal to the bacterial pathogens that are the causative agents of periodontal disease.”
And as a recent article on Dr. Michael Cutler’s website points out, a bacterium called Streptococcus mutans, which lives on your teeth and gums can cause dental cavities and plaque. It can even make its way to your heart and cause dangerous cardiac infections!
According to Dr. Cutler:
“Bacteria that normally live in gum tissue in the mouth may invade the heart, leading to a dangerous infection known as endocarditis.
The bacteria, known as Streptococcus mutans causes cavities and lives in dental plaque.”
Microbiologist Dr. Jacqueline Abranches, Ph.D. also points out, the situation can be quite serious, and taking steps to limit the number of colonies of this pathogen in your mouth can be a boon to your health.
“…the smaller the number of Streptococcus mutans in your mouth, the healthier you’ll be….”
The good news is, according to a 1999 study conducted at Brigham Young University, the bacterium Streptococcus mutans was inhibited and destroyed using a relatively weak concentration of just 5 ppm of colloidal silver.
Here’s a brief synopsis of what the researchers discovered:
- Streptococcus mutans – a major cause of dental plaque and tooth decay, and implicated in infective endocarditis (i.e., infection of the heart valves). Inhibited and killed @ 5 ppm colloidal silver.
- Streptococcus gordonii – also causes tooth decay, and also implicated in infective endocarditis. Inhibited and killed @ 5 ppm colloidal silver.
- Streptococcus pyogenes – causes strep throat, skin infections, upper respiratory infections, impetigo, hospital-acquired infections, Scarlet Fever and more. Inhibited and killed @ 1.25 ppm colloidal silver.
- Streptococcus pneumoniae – causes pneumonia, meningitis, sinusitis, otitis media (ear infection). Inhibited @ 2.5 ppm and killed @ 5 ppm colloidal silver.
- Streptococcus faecalis – causes urinary tract infections, endocarditis and wound infections. Inhibited @ 2.5 ppm and killed @ 5 ppm colloidal silver.
In fact, in the Brigham Young study, colloidal silver was demonstrated to be as good at destroying Streptococcus mutans and other Streptococcus pathogens as five different classes of antibiotics, including:
- the tetracyclines
- fluorinated quinolones (Ofloxacin)
- the penicillins
- the cephalosporins (Cefaperazone)
- and the macrolides (Erythromycin)
Antimicrobial silver has also been demonstrated to stop the growth of dental plaque (which is often caused by Streptococcus mutans), and has been used successfully by many people specifically for that purpose.
And by the way, where there’s no dental plaque, tooth decay or gum infections, there’s no Streptococcus mutans!
Take a look at some examples of how experienced users of colloidal silver have used it to improve their dental health:
Curt S. wrote to say,
“For one, a week or so before I made my first batch of colloidal silver, my gums were getting very swollen and they would bleed easily and it would hurt to eat food sometimes. I’ve always had gum issues but not like this!
Well after using the micro-particle colloidal silver for like 2 days, swishing the stuff around in my mouth before swallowing it, it was completely gone and I could brush my teeth without it bleeding.
And there was no pain – I could even apply firm pressure while brushing, and it was fine!”
And Todd from Ohio wrote to explain how he helped save a co-worker’s wallet from her daughter’s exorbitant dental bills:
“A lady I work with had a daughter that had some major gum disease (to the tune of over $6000 of her Mom’s money in dental bills).
The daughter kept getting infection, maybe partially due to bad dental habits and the failure of the medicines given.
I told her about colloidal silver and had her do some reading on it, offering her some of the liquid if she then decided to try it.
About a week later she asked for some and her daughter’s mouth has now pretty much cleared up from the infection, simply by taking some twice a day and holding it in her mouth for several minutes.”
Alton from Mississippi even used it to help heal a dreaded infected dry socket:
“I had a dry socket in my mouth after having a tooth pulled.
An infection set in and nothing was working. The pain was horrifying.
My friend brought me some of the colloidal silver. I put it in my mouth and let it stay for a few moments and spit it out. Within 30 minutes my fever was gone and so was the pain.
I put drops of colloidal silver from a syringe directly on the tooth every 20 minutes for 2 hours and never looked back. I am now a believer in Colloidal Silver.”
Colloidal Silver Also Kills Mouth Fungus
Recent studies have demonstrated that antimicrobial silver is also extremely effective against oral fungal pathogens that can cause mouth infections – so much so, clinical researchers are now looking at developing a commercial mouthwash containing silver as the main active ingredient.
According to NaturalNews.com:
“A new study published in the Society for Applied Microbiology journal Letters in Applied Microbiology reveals that silver is fully capable of killing yeast-based mouth infections caused by Candida albicans and Candida glabrata.
the effects of a silver nanoparticle solution on oral thrush, dental stomatitis, and various other mouth infections caused by the two aforementioned strains of yeast.
They came to the conclusion that, in all cases, the silver solution was effective at combating these infection-causing yeast strains, even when the size of the silver particles used varied dramatically.”
Professor Henriques later commented on her study:
“With the emergence of Candida infections which are frequently resistant to the traditional antifungal therapies, there is an increasing need for alternative approaches.
So, silver nanoparticles appear to be a new potential strategy to combat these infections.
As the nanoparticles are relatively stable in liquid medium they could be developed into a mouthwash solution in the near future.”
In other words, the researchers are actually looking at developing a silver-based mouthwash to combat mouth infections caused by oral fungi.
But these aren’t the only healing benefits you’ll experience while using colloidal silver in your daily dental hygiene routine.
I Used Colloidal Silver To Hold Off a Root Canal For 12 Years
Can colloidal silver really help you avoid a painful root canal? In my case, the answer was a resounding, “Yes!”
For nearly 12 years I was able to prevent having a painful root canal procedure done simply by using some homemade colloidal silver several times a day, whenever a flare-up would occur.
Indeed, back in 1996 my dentist had told me that my bottom right molar had a small hairline crack in it, and that microbes were penetrating the tooth and getting into the root system.
This caused an infection resulting in the excruciating pain I had been experiencing. After taking x-rays, he immediately recommended a root canal.
Now this same dentist had performed a root canal on one of my front teeth about six years earlier, and it was one of the most painful procedures I’d ever endured.
It was, in fact, the one and only time I actually screamed out in pain in a professional office surrounding, such was the pain caused by the root canal procedure.
So instead of having the second root canal done, I went home, made some fresh colloidal silver and started soaking the tooth in it each night. What I did was this:
Upon going to bed each night, I’d take about two ounces of colloidal silver into my mouth, and hold it directly over the offending tooth for as long as I could. I’d shoot for ten or fifteen minutes. While I was doing this, I’d read from a book, or watch television.
Occasionally, I’d forcefully swish the colloidal silver back and forth over the infected tooth, in an attempt to force some of the tiny silver particles under the gum line, and between the teeth, and hopefully even into the hairline crack my dentist told me was there.
And after ten or fifteen minutes had passed, I’d swallow the colloidal silver, and then repeat the same process with a fresh mouthful of colloidal silver.
Furthermore, I’d repeat the same procedure several times during the day, while I was at work.
It was no big deal. I just brought a small jar of my homemade colloidal silver to work with me. It was about 10 ppm in concentration. And whenever I knew I wouldn’t be talking to anyone at work for awhile – I’d take a nice big mouthful of colloidal silver and begin alternately holding it over the tooth, and then swishing it forcefully back and forth over the tooth.
Again, I’d do so for ten or fifteen minutes. And I always swallowed the colloidal silver afterwards.
The result? The pain immediately began to diminish. And within only three days there was no more pain left whatsoever.
Within a week, I went back to the dentist and had new X-rays taken. And you should have seen the look on his face when he saw that the infection was completely gone. Not a trace of it.
And I’m not the only one. The following is a very interesting personal account from S. C., a gentleman who was skeptical about using colloidal silver to help avoid a root canal, because a previous attempt he’d made to do so had failed.
Here’s what he wrote about his second time at trying to avoid a root canal on a bad tooth:
“In April, I was diagnosed with a tooth requiring a root canal. I tried to treat it with colloidal silver but the symptoms did not abate. The dentist attempted a root canal, but the tooth shattered as soon as the drill touched it. An extraction was required.
Why did colloidal silver not help? Maybe because the tooth had developed a crack, and since the nerve was dead, colloidal silver could not repair the crack. Maybe I did not use enough colloidal silver. Maybe, since it was the end of tax season, there was too much pressure, adding to the symptoms. I don’t know.
In August, another tooth developed the same symptoms with pain shooting to other top and bottom teeth. The dentist identified one particular molar as dead and sent me to a specialist. They were sure that only one tooth was a problem and the spreading pain was normal.
I booked the root canal for a week later. Meanwhile, I started using colloidal silver more actively. I soaked a cheese cloth in colloidal silver and placed it between the teeth that were in the most pain. I left it in place for 20-30 minutes at a time, four or five times a day for three to four days, spitting out when finished.
I became discouraged with the lack of results and switched to swishing colloidal silver in my mouth several times a day and swallowing the colloidal silver. This was more convenient since I was doing this at work and was often interrupted.
After a few days, the pain reduced, then went away almost entirely. I reported this to friends and was advised to keep the appointment for the root canal, rather than relying on an ‘unproven treatment.’
When I went to the specialist, he decided to check my tooth again before doing the root canal. He did not accept that colloidal silver could reach the infected area in the tooth.
His testing, however, determined that my dead tooth was not causing any significant pain when he tapped on it. The tooth was still dead as I did not react to cold or electric shock.
He found that overall, my pain had drastically reduced, was greatly impressed with the progress, and he decided we should postpone the root canal. He did not believe that there would be any problem resulting from leaving the dead tooth in place, just a risk that infection could return. That was fine with me. I have more colloidal silver.”
Well, there you have it. This is probably about the sixth time over the past four or five years that someone has written to me with positive results about using colloidal silver to avoid a root canal. (For more testimonials from people who have used colloidal silver to beat the need for a root canal, this article has several examples.)
But this isn’t all colloidal silver can do to improve your overall dental health…
Colloidal Silver Remineralizes Dental Enamel According to An Experienced User
At least one man, as mentioned on this tooth decay website, says colloidal silver is not only healing his tooth infection, but re-mineralizing the damaged tooth enamel, as well.
His experience coincides nicely with the work of Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D., who found that electrically generated silver ions have the power to trigger bone growth and re-mineralization…
Take a look at what Timothy D., from Surrey, UK wrote:
“Two and a half weeks ago I noticed two cavities high up in my front teeth. Both were brown and unsightly, and I was kicking myself for not noticing them before and brushing my teeth more carefully. The gums had also receded above them.
One of the cavities was particularly deep and exceptionally sensitive to the sharp end of a pair of scissors I several times placed against it.
As I have had amazing success in the past curing all kinds of problems with colloidal silver, I searched on Google to see whether there was a natural way of curing my two cavities, and I learned for the first time that teeth could naturally re-mineralize.
I decided to brush my teeth regularly throughout the day, particularly after meals and taking special care to spray the damaged areas with colloidal silver.
I was not particularly hopeful, but I dreaded going to the dentist. The last time I went was 24 years ago for a cavity-fill high up on another front tooth. The drilling was excruciatingly painful at the time and the tooth far more sensitive to pressure after the operation than before.
Well, after a week I started noticing some tiny signs of whiteness against the brown. I thought that maybe I simply hadn’t noticed it before.
Now, another week on, I can clearly see new white bone growing in both cavities.
I’m simply amazed. Every day I notice a small improvement. At this rapid rate, I guess both my teeth could fully recover in a month’s time, even though I’m 52.
I thank God for what I am still experiencing as a kind of miracle, especially given the intensive dental propaganda regarding the need to drill and fill.
If my experience is at all typical, then I can only say: Woe to you dentists who deliberately conceal from your clients the naturally curative properties of human teeth once properly cared for.
And blessed indeed are those persecuted for attempting to get the truth out!”
I find the above testimonial fascinating, because it was the work of Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D. back in the 1970’s that first alerted the world to the idea that electrically generated silver ions can be used not just to heal bone and tissue infections…
…but also to stimulate the re-growth and re-mineralization of injured bone that had otherwise refused to heal.
If silver can trigger re-mineralization of bone, would that also apply also to re-mineralization of dental enamel? The idea is intriguing!
But now that we’ve discussed why colloidal silver improves dental health, let’s talk about how you can quickly and easily add it to your daily dental hygiene routine.
Two Easy Ways to Add Colloidal Silver to Your Daily Dental Routine
1. Colloidal Silver Toothpaste
Commercially-produced colloidal silver toothpastes do exist, but they tend to be very costly.
But really, why pay out the nose for one when you can simply put a few cents worth of high-quality home-made colloidal silver into a small pump spray bottle, and spray it onto your toothbrush each morning after applying your usual toothpaste?
It’s really that simple.
Just put some freshly made colloidal silver solution in a small spray bottle, apply your toothpaste to your toothbrush, spritz the toothbrush and toothpaste several times with the colloidal silver, and finally, brush as usual.
You’ll actually get far better antimicrobial protection, for a lot less money using the do-it-yourself method because your homemade colloidal silver is fresh and highly electrically charged – the two criteria Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D. discovered were vital for the healing of skin and soft tissues, and for maximum protection against infectious microorganisms.
Have a look at this demonstration video to see how easy it is:
Finally, I also rinse my toothbrush with warm water after each brushing, and then spray it lightly with colloidal silver before putting it into the toothbrush holder.
I just let it air dry in the toothbrush holder, so the silver particles stay on the toothbrush bristles. That way, there’s no germ buildup on the toothbrush when I go to use it next.
Experts say that your toothbrush is one of the filthiest implements in your home. But not when you spray it after each use with colloidal silver!
2. Colloidal Silver Mouthwash for Rinsing or Soaking
Most people tell me that for use as an oral mouthwash, they simply swish a little bit of 10 ppm colloidal silver around in their mouth, vigorously, for several minutes after each brushing.
It can also be used for a more intensive soak if you find yourself with painful infected teeth or gums.
Simply hold a fresh mouthful of the colloidal silver in the mouth for as long as you can, i.e., at least 7-10 minutes.
I sometimes alternate between swishing the colloidal silver around from time to time, and then holding it directly over the infected area.
After 7-10 minutes of doing this, spit it out and repeat the procedure for another 7-10 minutes. I typically repeat this procedure several more times throughout the course of the day.
Usually, in my personal experience, after only three days of following the above protocol my tooth or gum infection is gone. Everything is back to normal.
I generally follow up for at least a few more days by taking somewhat lower oral dosages of colloidal silver (i.e., several ounces a day), as well as by rinsing my teeth and gums thoroughly with colloidal silver several times a day after brushing.
As you can see, using colloidal silver in your daily dental hygiene routine can reduce the presence of cavity-causing bacteria…help avoid a painful root canal…maximize the overall health of your teeth and gums and dramatically reduce most dental problems…
…Plus, you can use colloidal silver to help reduce the presence of dental plaque on your teeth and under your gums…and some people even claim you can remineralize damaged dental enamel with colloidal silver.
Truth be told, experienced colloidal silver users have long known that simply swishing a little bit of colloidal silver around in the mouth for several minutes after each brushing can promote superb dental hygiene and produce phenomenal healing benefits in the teeth and gums as well.
So the bottom line is this: If you already have access to safe, natural colloidal silver, you really don’t need an expensive commercial mouthwash or toothpaste containing silver.
