A New Use for Colloidal Silver: Spraying Homemade Chicken Jerky Treats for the Dogs

The picture to the left is of our two fur babies, Lady Belle and Brownie. They’re about 12 years old now.

Brownie’s been with us since he was a puppy. And Lady Belle is a rescue dog, found abandoned, years ago, in the hot Mojave Desert.

As you can see, even in their old age, they’re quite playful, and remain enamored with each other – best friends for life.

Like humans, they occasionally get sick, or run-down. Thankfully, we have colloidal silver to help make things better for them. And now I’ve found a new way to use it, when making homemade chicken or turkey jerky strips for their treats…

Hi, Steve Barwick here, for The Silver Edge

This past few weeks I’ve stumbled across a relatively new use for colloidal silver. I’d have told you about it sooner but I’ve been testing it out to make sure it works.

First, by way of explanation, a short story:

I used to give my female German Shepherd, Lady, and my male German Shepherd mix-breed, Brownie, those Chinese-made commercial chicken jerky treats that come in bags from pet food stores. Then a barrage of news came out claiming that these treats had been causing serious kidney damage in pets, even to the point of killing hundreds of dogs.

While the FDA was unable to identify the cause, many people figured the chemical concoctions sprayed on the chicken jerky treats in China to help keep them from becoming contaminated and spoiled by bacteria, fungi and other pathogens were the culprits.

Naturally, as soon as I realized how serious the situation was, I quit giving the Chinese-made chicken jerky treats to my dogs even though they’d never had a problem with them and they had always looked forward to these treats with great relish each day.

New Treats

Then I found a commercial brand of chicken jerky treats that were made in America, instead of China. This brand came highly recommended by the local pet store as a safe substitute for the Chinese-made chicken jerky treats. So I bought a few bags and began giving them to my dogs again, once a day at “treat time.”

And while the jerky treats didn’t bother Lady at all, within a week Brownie began to grow lethargic, showed signs of painful stomach distress, and began peeing blood. His penis also swelled up to twice its normal size.

My wife and I rushed him to the vet, and $800 worth of tests later the verdict came back as “crystals in his urine.” We were told to quit feeding him a high protein diet and instead put him on an extremely expensive prescription canned dog food diet that’s composed mostly of ground up corn, plus corn starch and some other ingredients, with dramatically lower levels of meat than usual dog food.

Too much meat protein, we were told, was the cause of the crystals in his urine. (A diagnosis I thought was a bit weird, since he’d been eating a high protein diet since he was a puppy, with zero problems, and he was by that time ten years old.)

Thankfully, however, when we stopped giving him his usual high protein diet, including the chicken jerky strips, the blood in his urine stopped, and he began to recover.

But within weeks of his new diet, Brownie began bloating up like a pig. So I read more about the corn and corn by-products in this “low protein” canned food, and found that this is what’s given to farm animals before market time to fatten them up quickly so the farmer gets more money than he normally would, by weight.

So I took Brownie off that weight-inducing crap, and put him back on his regular high-protein meat diet, but without the chicken strips.

Months later, the blood in his urine, and his stomach distress, had still not returned. And I could only conclude it had been the American-made chicken jerky strips from the pet store that had caused the supposed “urinary crystals,” all along.

Final Chapter:
Boy, Am I Stupid Sometimes

Now for the end of the story:

Several months later I happened across a small American company that was making chicken jerky treats without any preservatives or other chemicals.

They were running a home-based business, and making the jerky strips themselves, out of fresh chicken, using a dehydrator to turn them into jerky. Then they’d package the jerky strips in sealed plastic bags and mail them to you, with instructions to refrigerate them immediately upon arrival to prevent spoilage since there were no preservatives on the chicken jerky strips at all.

So I bought some for my dogs, and started giving them a few strips daily, as treats. And there was no problem at all, for several years.

Then one day I noticed Brownie was having stomach distress again. He would come over to me, cry out in pain, and then plop down on his side and look at me with his big, sad brown eyes while whining and whimpering. The only thing that helped him was if I went over and rubbed his belly for five or ten minutes. But that only gave him temporary relief.

Thinking back on the events of the past year, I decided there was something more going on, and that it probably had to do with an internal infection of some kind, rather than “urinary crystals.”

So I began giving Brownie a couple of ounces of 10 ppm colloidal silver when he appeared to be in stomach distress. And it relieved the distress greatly. Within twenty minutes he’d be back on his feet and acting like everything was fine again.

Now all of this time I didn’t suspect the new preservative-free and chemical-free chicken jerky treats as being the problem at all. But Brownie’s recurrent symptoms, which seemed to be cropping up several times a week at this point, started bugging me.

So I made a decision any normal human being would make (not!) and decided to actually eat a piece of one of the chicken jerky strips myself to see what would happen.

So I broke off a little one-inch square piece from one of the chicken strips, and ate it. Then I went on about my regular evening work routine, and later that night I came in from my office to watch a little TV with my wife. At that time, I noticed my stomach was getting some sharp, stabbing pains. Nothing serious, but nevertheless it was quite unusual.

We watched a bit of TV and by the time the programs were over, I was now becoming nauseous, and the sharp, knife-like cramps in my stomach were becoming horrifically painful. And yes, the next thing I knew I was running to the toilet to throw up violently, alternating between uncontrollable vomiting and explosive diarrhea. Blechh!

Even though drinking or eating anything was the last thing I wanted at that point, I forced myself to slug down about four ounces of colloidal silver to try to put a stop to the pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. And thankfully there was some relief for an hour or so. Then the cramping and nausea started again. And once again I ended up hugging the toilet.

So I drank four more ounces of colloidal silver. And once again, the nausea abated for a short while, then started again, along with the vomiting and diarrhea.

That led me to gulp down one more small glass of colloidal silver. By this time I’d been royally sick for about six hours. But the vomiting and diarrhea finally stopped, and gratefully I was finally able to doze off just before sunup. I managed to get a few hours of sleep, and by the next day I was relatively fine, except for a slightly sensitive stomach and some fatigue.

E. coli or Salmonella Contamination:
Colloidal Silver to the Rescue!

Well, that episode pretty much convinced me that the no-preservative chicken jerky strips were contaminated with E. coli or Salmonella, the two most common food poisoning pathogens found on chicken in supermarkets.

Naturally, with no chemical preservatives on the jerky strips, and no other chemicals either, it would be relatively easy for the jerky strips to become contaminated with microbes. Even though I kept the bags refrigerated until I opened them, after opening them I kept them in a walk-in food pantry for easier access. I didn’t figure they could “go bad” in the three or four days they’d be outside of the refrigerator. Again, my bad.

My New Regimen

Anyway, now that you have the back story on this mess, here’s what I’ve started doing:

Every time I take a new package of the chicken jerky strips out of the refrigerator and open them, I take the strips out of the bag, lay them out on paper towels on the kitchen counter top, and spray them with colloidal silver, front and back, and allow them to air dry. Then I put each strip back into the bag, store it in the pantry, and give them out to my dogs at the appropriate “treat time” each day.

It’s been about seven weeks now, and there have been no further problems. Brownie’s stomach is no longer upset. He seems to be healthy as a horse. And the dogs seem to like their chicken jerky strips even better than they’d previously liked them.

The only thing I cannot for the life of me understand is why the jerky strips would make Brownie (and me) so sick, but my female German Shepherd, Lady Belle, can eat them regularly without experiencing any stomach discomfort at all. I can only guess that she simply has a better gastrointestinal constitution than either me or Brownie.

The good news is that my Brownie is back to normal now that I spray his chicken strips with the colloidal silver and allow them to air dry before re-packaging them.

I think the problem with the original bag of store-bought chicken strips was the chemical preservatives being put on them to keep them from spoiling. But the problem with the freshly-made chicken strips with no chemical preservatives was that if they’re not kept permanently refrigerated until the bag is completely empty, they all-too-easily became contaminated with food-poisoning microbes – even in just a couple of days time.

Making Our Own Chicken and Turkey Strips

My wife and I finally bought our own little meat-slicing machine, so we can slice our own chicken and turkey and make jerky strips for the dogs. We found the meat slicer on Amazon. And it works great.

We also bought a small dehydrator which allows you to place the freshly sliced turkey or chicken on a rack, run the dehydrator to remove all of the liquid from the meat, and turn it into jerky treats for the dogs. They absolutely love them.

But before packaging and refrigerating them, we first spray them with colloidal silver and allow them to air dry. Then we refrigerate them until it’s time to use them.

And after opening a new package, we spray them with colloidal silver once again, and allow them to air dry, before feeding them to the dogs.

We make just enough to last for a few days, and the colloidal silver spray seems to stop all microbial contamination for that short time.

So far, so good. There have been no further problems. And the dogs are doing fine, always looking forward to their daily “treat time.”

The Problem with Price…

Unfortunately, colloidal silver is a bit on the pricey side, costing between $20 and $30 for a tiny, four-ounce bottle. This makes it a bit expensive for purposes like spraying on dog food to prevent contamination.

At normal health food store prices, a quart of colloidal silver would
usually cost you as much as $240. But you can make that same quart for less than 36 cents with a Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from The Silver Edge.

In other words, you can make your own colloidal silver “at cost.” Compared to health food store prices for colloidal silver, your very first one-quart batch of micro-particle colloidal silver actually pays for the entire cost the generator.

Do you know of any other health product that literally pays for itself the very first time you use it?

Making your own high-quality colloidal silver at home for just a few pennies per quart allows you to dramatically expand your range of uses far above and beyond what you’d be able to use colloidal silver for if you had to pay $20 to $30 for those tiny four-ounce bottles in health food stores. You might even start making your own chicken or turkey jerky treats for your dog, and using colloidal silver as the preservative.

After all, now you can afford to make all of the colloidal silver you’ll ever need, for just a few cents per quart.

And that means you can afford to use it for a myriad of other beneficial uses, including in the aquarium to help heal and prevent tropical fish infections…or in your hot tub or spa (replaces toxic chlorine and bromine)…or for just about every kind of pet health problem imaginable…or even as a safe, natural, non-toxic household disinfectant.

Nearly FREE, for the Rest of Your Life!

Obviously, having the ability to make your own high-quality micro-particle colloidal silver for only a few pennies per quart is about as close as you’ll ever get to having “free” colloidal silver for the rest of your life, any time you or a family member, friend or loved one needs it.

And because the silver particles produced by this amazing breakthrough in colloidal silver-making technology are as low as .8 nm – a fraction of a single nanometer – their effectiveness against colonies of pathogenic microbes is astonishing.

Perhaps that’s why so many thousands upon thousands of people absolutely rave over the effectiveness of their homemade micro-particle colloidal silver, as you can see at this web page full of real-life colloidal silver success stories.
