IMPORTANT NOTE: The "gauge" of silver wire is a reference to its thickness. The higher the gauge number, the thinner the silver wire, and the lower the gauge number, the thicker the silver wire. Thus 14 gauge silver wire is just a little bit thinner than 12 gauge silver wire, which is why it costs a little less. For the sake of comparison, 14 gauge silver wire s about the thickness of the pencil lead in an unsharpened standard #2 pencil. And 12 gauge silver wire is just a little bit thicker.
