The easiest way to do this when using saline solution as an electrolyte is to simply let your machine run for 30 to 40 minutes. There is only one reason to completely restrict the use of saline solution in making colloidal silver with a standard low-voltage home colloidal silver generator: It is to hide the fact that the generator in question is putting out way too much amperage in relation to voltage, and may therefore be producing an overly large silver particle size. You see, when a generator's electrical current is not properly limited, the use of saline solution in the water will exacerbate the problems described above, speeding up the production of overly large silver particles, and turning the water murky brown even faster.

  To hide this problem, the manufacturer will state that you should never use saline solution. They may even use a scare tactic, such as stating that the use of saline solution can produce a harmful form of colloidal silver. Of course, this is completely erroneous. For example, your blood and bodily fluids are about 20% saline. So as soon as colloidal silver enters your body and mixes with your bodily fluids, it becomes highly saline anyway. This is because the charged silver particles immediately attach themselves to your body's mineral salts. Of course, this causes no harm whatsoever. So the saline issue is a red herring designed to distract your attention from the true problem: the manufacturer has not spent the extra money necessary to properly balance the electrical current between the voltage and the amperage to produce the correct wattage. In failing to do so, their machine is producing too much electrical current to make a decent, high-quality colloidal silver solution. The silver particles will likely be too large for the body to process effectively. And there is a possibility that, if used regularly over long periods of time, it could result in an accumulation of silver particles in the body's tissues and organs. And although with occasional usage it is unlikely to cause harm, with regular long-term usage there is the possibility of toxic build-up. Our recommendation: Do not buy this type of generator regardless of what a bargain it may seem to be. (As with anything in life, you get what you pay for!)

       Big Difference #2: Controlled Particle Size Range - Although you do not want to produce an overly large silver particle size, you do want to choose a generator that produces a stable colloid with a controlled range of particle sizes. Daryl Tichy, the famous independent colloidal silver researcher from Brigham Young University who has been written up in the newspapers recently for his work with colloidal silver v/s the AIDS virus and other serious pathogens, has demonstrated in his research that different pathogenic microorganisms respond to different silver particles sizes. You have probably read that colloidal silver has been shown to be effective against over 650 different pathogenic microorganisms. What you've likely not been told is that there is no single silver particle size that is effective against all of these different pathogens.

       For example, a pathogen that causes food poisoning may respond best to a silver particle size of, say for the sake of example, .5 microns (that's five one-tenths of a micron -- a fraction of the size of a normal human blood capillary). But a pathogen that causes pneumonia might respond best to a silver particle size of say, .05 microns (that's five one-hundredths of a micron -- many multiples smaller than a normal human blood capillary). Therefore, colloidal silver generators that are touted to produce solutions consisting of a single particle size are simply not as effective as generators that can produce a controlled range of silver particles. To produce a colloidal silver solution that can kill the vast majority of the 650 different pathogens colloidal silver is said to be effective against, you must have a generator that produces a controlled range of silver particle sizes.

       This is why the manufacturer of the home colloidal silver generators distributed by The Silver Edge Health & Nutritionals has calibrated his generators to produce a stable silver colloid in a particle size range as low as .5 microns to .05 microns. Again, that's five-tenths of a micron, to five one-hundredths of a micron. It is a range that is many times smaller than the size of a normal human blood capillary (which is usually between seven to 10 microns) in diameter. This means toxic buildup under normal common-sense usage is next to impossible.        Here are a few more clues to look for in terms of distinguishing a high-quality home colloidal silver generator from a less effective model:

• If the sales literature for a low-voltage home colloidal silver generator claims that silver particles "always come off the silver wire at the same particle size" you should exercise extreme caution. It is easy to verify in just about any college laboratory with an electron microscope that silver particles come off the silver wires in varying sizes. If the electrical current is not properly balanced between the voltage and the amperage in order to produce the precise wattage for making a high-quality colloidal silver solution, rather than getting silver particles in the fractions of a micron range, you can easily end up with a solution in which the vast majority of the silver particles are as large as several microns...or even larger! Experts say that whereas such overly large silver particles are not likely to cause harm if ingested for a short period of time (any more than eating a little dirt would cause harm), it is well known that when ingested over extended periods of time larger particle sizes such as this can and do accumulate in the tissues and organs of the human body. It is possible that a buildup such as this could eventually become toxic. So, any colloidal silver generator manufacturer who tells you "Don't worry, no matter what electrical current is used, silver particles always come off the silver wire at the same size," is telling you a lie. In essence, he is saying there is no reason to spend the extra money needed to properly balance the voltage against the amperage, because silver particles are always the same size regardless of the strength of the electrical current. And if he is willing to lie to you about something as easy to disprove as that, what else might he by lying to you about? A good rule of thumb is that his generator is probably producing too large of a particle size to be safe for long-term ingestion. Our recommendation: This is precisely why you should always take care to select a colloidal silver generator -- like those distributed by The Silver Edge Health & Nutritionals -- that is specially calibrated to generate silver particles as low as .5 microns to .05 microns or smaller.

• If the advertising for a colloidal silver generator carries wild and undocumented claims that on face value do not appear to make sense, hold on tight to your wallet. For example, we recently purchased a new colloidal silver generator because the manufacturer claimed it uses both AC and DC electrical current simultaneously, which he said would produce a silver colloid solution so stable and uniform in size that the silver particles would not fall out of suspension even if the solution were left out in the light. (In the real world, all silver particles are sensitive to light, and must be kept in dark colored bottles during prolonged storage to protect the integrity and potency of the solution.) This fell under the category of "too good to be true," of course, so we had to see it for ourselves. We purchased the generator and made a few batches. As we suspected from the start, after only one day of being left out in the light, these "highly stable" and "uniform size" silver particles began to lose their electrical charge, fall rapidly out of suspension and drop to the bottom of the bottle, just like any other silver colloid would when left out in the light.

  This gentleman, who is self-touted to be one of the country's "greatest experts" on colloidal silver-making, also stated in his literature that colloidal silver made with his new generator is so stable you can store it in plastic water jugs without experiencing the common problem of having the silver particles fall out of suspension and become attached to the walls of the plastic container. Again, the claim was ludicrous at face value because virtually all modern plastics are susceptible to static electricity, which in turn ruins the electrical charge on silver particles and pulls them to the sides and bottom of the plastic container. So again, we tested this gentleman's unit by making some colloidal silver with it and then storing it in a large, gallon-sized plastic jug, just like his literature recommended. As of this writing, we still have the plastic gallon water jug full of the colloidal silver we made with his new generator. The sides are almost completely coated with silver particles which have been attracted to the plastic by static electricity. And the bottom of the plastic jug is so heavily coated with silver particles that have lost their electrical charge and have fallen out of suspension, you cannot even see through it! It is like a gravel bed of silver particles coating the bottom of the plastic jug!

  Our recommendation: If the claims made for a colloidal silver generator seem to fly in the face of basic science and common sense, save your money! Colloidal silver does not belong in plastic. For long-term storage, use colored glass bottles to keep the light out. And never trust anyone who says their "special" generator creates a "unique form of colloidal silver" that isn't at some point negatively affected by light or by being stored in modern plastics.

       Big Difference #3: High Quality Electronic Components - It never ceases to amaze us that when people are looking to purchase a home colloidal silver generator, they tend to look solely at the price, and rarely at the quality of the electronic components used to construct the generator! So do yourself a favor and let the following piece of common-sense wisdom be a basic guideline for you when you are looking to purchase a home colloidal silver generator: If a home colloidal silver generator is priced dramatically below the cost of similar models made by other companies, it was likely manufactured using cheap, poor quality electronic components.
